What is particular

We service Monogram professional wall hoods, pyramid chimney hoods for walls and islands, glass canopy and high-performance island hoods, the slide-out hood that fits under a cabinet, custom brass and stainless hoods, the earlier custom hood inserts and the ZVB telescopic downdraft. Have the model number ready; on the professional hoods it is on the front panel.

Baffles and drip trays, monthly

The professional hoods use metal baffles that channel grease into drip trays, and Monogram asks for both to be cleaned once a month or as needed. A hood that drips or smells of old grease usually has full trays before it has a failed part.

The heat sensor goes straight to boost

On the current professional hoods, the heat sensor thermostat takes the blower to BOOST, whether it was off or on a lower speed, and lets it drop back once the heat eases. That is a harder jump than many hoods make, and it startles owners.

An air-quality light that needs Wi-Fi

The ZVWS wall pyramid chimney hoods carry an air-quality LED that changes color with the kitchen air, but only once the hood is connected to Wi-Fi, and the island pyramid hoods are sold with the same Air Quality Sensors name. A dark or unchanging LED on an offline hood is expected, not a dead sensor.

Duct size is part of the spec

Monogram states that its professional hoods need 10-inch ducting to perform properly and that its technicians cannot correct noise or weak draw caused by an undersized duct. We check the duct before blaming the blower.

Parts

Charcoal filters for the pyramid hoods are a single part (UXCF91) that cannot be washed, and the light bar on those hoods is replaced by service rather than by the owner. Older inserts and downdrafts are marked no longer available, so some of their parts may need to be searched for before a visit is booked.

Repair or replace

A Monogram professional hood is built to outlast several blowers, so a motor, keypad or light bar repair is usually the better choice. For a discontinued downdraft or insert with a part no longer made, we say so after the diagnostic.

Why did my Monogram hood jump to boost on its own?
The heat sensor thermostat does that when it senses excessive heat above the burners, even if the fan was off. It returns to your setting once the temperature drops. If it stays on boost long after cooking, book a visit.
How often should I clean the baffles on a Monogram professional hood?
Monogram asks for the baffles and drip trays to be cleaned once a month, or sooner with heavy cooking. Drain and wipe the trays first, then wash baffles and trays in hot water with detergent, avoiding ammonia, which darkens the metal.
The air-quality light on my Monogram pyramid hood never changes. Is it broken?
Not necessarily. The air-quality LED only works once the hood is connected to Wi-Fi through the SmartHQ app. Connect it first; if the LED still does nothing, book a visit.
Can I replace the light bar on my Monogram pyramid hood?
Monogram lists the light bar as a service replacement, not an owner job. Book a visit and we will test the bar and its supply before ordering.
