Fisher & Paykel lists Series 7 pyramid and box chimney wall hoods, Series 9 wall hoods, Series 5, 7 and 9 integrated insert hoods, Series 7 telescopic downdrafts and a Series 11 modular auxiliary downdraft. Its induction surface CID364DTB4 has ventilation built in.

Filter switches on the telescopic downdraft

The HD30 and HD36 downdrafts have a microswitch behind each grease filter, and neither the blower nor the lift will run if a filter is out or loose. A downdraft that seems dead after cleaning often just has a filter not pressing its switch.

Condensation with induction

Fisher & Paykel warns that induction cooking heats little air around the pan, so more steam settles on the hood, filters and cabinets. Its advice is to start the hood five minutes early and keep it running five minutes after.

LED strips are a service part

On the Series 7 wall and insert hoods, the LED lighting is a strip replaced by a service technician rather than a bulb the owner swaps. Dark lights on these hoods mean a visit, not a trip to the store.

Timers built into the controls

The Series 7 hoods turn the fan off after four hours without a touch and the lights after twelve, and their timer steps the fan down through each speed before stopping. A hood that slows and shuts off on its own is often following that timer.

Parts

Fisher & Paykel publishes part numbers for filters, LED strips, carbon filters and chimney extensions in each user guide, which makes matching simpler. Telescopic downdraft filters differ between the 30- and 36-inch units.

Repair or replace

Fisher & Paykel hoods with a failed LED strip, control or blower are generally worth repairing, especially inserts and downdrafts built into cabinetry. A basic older chimney hood with a failed motor is where comparing a new hood makes sense.

Why won't my Fisher & Paykel downdraft rise after I cleaned the filters?
Each grease filter presses a microswitch, and the lift and blower stay off until both filters are firmly in place. Reseat them; book a visit if it still will not move.
Why is there so much condensation on my Fisher & Paykel hood?
Induction cooking sends more moisture up without much heat, so it condenses. Run the hood on a lower speed from five minutes before cooking to five minutes after.
Can I replace the lights on my Fisher & Paykel hood myself?
On the Series 7 Wi-Fi hoods, no. The LED strips are replaced by a service technician.
Why is my Fisher & Paykel hood airflow weak?
