Hestan sells the KVP Pro Canopy, the chimney hoods, the KVI island hoods in 36, 42 and 54 inches and the KVL liners, with blower systems from 600 to 1200 CFM. The rating label sits on the blower housing, so have it read before booking.

No baffles, a grease housing instead

Hestan's blower captures grease inside a removable blower housing and shield rather than in filters. Neither is visible from below, so a hood that drips or smells of old grease usually has a housing that has not been taken down and washed in a long time.

Wheels matched to motors

Each motor in a Hestan hood has its own colored blower wheel, black on black and white on white. Hestan's own troubleshooting list asks early on whether each wheel went back onto its matching motor.

Speed that follows the heat

Hestan's spec sheets describe a blower that speeds up when it senses higher temperatures and slows again when full power is not needed. A hood that changes speed on its own over a hot burner is doing its job.

Knobs, not keypads

Hestan hoods run on a blower knob and a light knob, with a second blower knob on three- and four-blower models. Without a keypad or display, there is no code to read, and diagnosis goes straight to switches, motors and wiring.

Parts

Hestan hoods can be ordered in any Sherwin-Williams RAL powder-coat color, so a replacement painted panel is made to order. LED lights carry a Hestan part number and swap out at the light panel, while motors and wheels are ordered to match the blower module.

Repair or replace

Most Hestan hood problems come down to a blower module, a wheel, a housing damper or a light, all replaceable without touching the canopy. The hood body rarely fails, so repair is the normal route.

Hestan range hoods.

Where are the filters on my Hestan hood?
There are none to wash in the usual sense. Hestan's CircuFlow blower traps grease in a removable blower shield and housing, which can go in the dishwasher or soak in warm soapy water.
My Hestan hood got noisy right after I cleaned it. What happened?
The blower wheels may be back on the wrong motors, or a housing may not be latched square. Hestan pairs black wheels with black motors and white with white; if the noise stays after checking, book a visit.
Why does my Hestan hood speed up on its own?
Hestan designs the blower to raise its speed when it senses higher temperatures and slow down when full power is not needed. It is normal behavior, not a stuck control.
How high should a Hestan liner sit above the burners?
Hestan recommends that the bottom edge of the liner be no more than 30 inches above the cooking surface. A liner mounted higher than that often draws poorly, however strong the blower.
