The buttons speak in blinks
On the Café commercial hood, a rolling blink across Low, Med and High means Delay Off is counting down 15 minutes, and a blinking High means Boost is running. We read those patterns before treating a blinking keypad as a board problem.
One hood, two mountings
The commercial hood can be fixed to the wall or tucked underneath a soffit or cabinet with an alternate mounting method. On a visit we check which was used, because the mounting changes how the hood is lowered for blower work.
Duct size is printed in the manual
Café states 8-inch ducting for the commercial hood and 6-inch for the glass canopy hood, and says its technicians cannot fix noise or weak draw caused by a smaller duct. We measure the duct before condemning the blower.
LED lamps are a service item
On the commercial hood, Café asks owners to schedule service to change the LED lamps rather than swapping them at home. The glass canopy models use halogen lights with an On, Night and Off button.
Parts
Recirculating Café commercial hoods take the UXCF91 charcoal filter, which cannot be cleaned and is best replaced every 6 months. Blowers, LED lamps and control boards are ordered by the model and serial number from the label inside the hood.
Repair or replace
On a Café commercial hood, the QuietBoost blower, keypad and Wi-Fi module are all repairable, and the heavy stainless shell is worth keeping. Replacement comes up mainly when a hood was installed on the wrong duct size and the run cannot be changed.
