What is particular

We service Sirius wall hoods (SU and SUTC series), island and ceiling hoods (SIU, SUT), built-in and pro-series units, the SUF6 under-cabinet hood and the SU-DD downdrafts. The label with the model data is inside the hood behind the grease filter.

A motor that protects itself

Sirius motors have a thermal overload that shuts them down under excessive heat. A hood that stops mid-sear and restarts later is usually protecting itself, and flame under the hood is what Sirius asks you to avoid.

Four hours, then off

An electronic timer switches Sirius hoods off 4 hours after the last button press, and downdrafts also close. Owners sometimes report this as the hood dying on its own.

Remotes that share a code

The RC001 remote ships with a preset code, so two Sirius hoods near each other can answer the same remote. Changing the code and letting the hood relearn it within 15 seconds of power-up fixes it.

A short pause after power cuts

On SUTC glass-touch models, Sirius notes 15 seconds of self-diagnostics after power returns, during which the controls may misbehave. We wait that out before judging the board.

Parts

Sirius posts US manuals, exploded views and spare-parts sheets for each model on its help desk page, which lets us order by part code. Remote motors are separate items, so we note both the hood and the motor model.

Repair or replace

Most Sirius repairs, such as a motor, a capacitor, a button board or lamps, are worth doing, since the stainless and glass body lasts. Sirius covers parts for two years and repair service for the first year, which is worth checking first on a newer hood.

Why does my Sirius hood shut off during heavy cooking?
The thermal overload stops the motor when it senses excessive heat. Lower the heat and let it cool; if it happens at normal heat, have it checked.
Why are all the buttons on my Sirius lit?
That is the 30-hour grease filter reminder. Wash the filter and press the timer button to reset.
