What F
actually means.

Zephyr hoods with a one-character display count fan hours and flash F once 30 hours have built up. The metal mesh filters are holding enough grease that airflow and the blower can suffer if they are left. Zephyr's help center describes a flashing F the same way: a clean filter reminder, not a breakdown.

What to do when F shows on the range hood

Before you book,
in this order.

Each step comes from Zephyr's own guidance for F on its range hoods. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.

01

Turn the hood off, let the filters cool and release them from the hood.

02

Wash them by hand with a grease-cutting soap or in the dishwasher, and let them dry fully before refitting.

03

With the hood off, hold the button shown in your manual for about 5 seconds until the F disappears to restart the 30-hour count.

04

If the F comes back right after a reset, book a visit to check the control.

Still there?

It usually turns into range hood filter and baffle service. Book with the code and the model number.

What not to do

A flashing C on the same display means the charcoal filters need replacing, which is a different job. An F that shows steady while you change speeds is part of normal operation only if your manual says so; the reminder itself flashes.

Questions
about F.

Can I clear F myself?
Turn the hood off, let the filters cool and release them from the hood. If it comes back, it needs a visit.
How do I clear the F on my Zephyr hood?
Clean the mesh filters, then with the hood off hold the button your manual names for about 5 seconds. The F goes away and a new 30-hour count starts.
Can I keep cooking with the F flashing on my Zephyr?
Yes, it is only a reminder. Waiting too long lets grease pass the filters and coat the blower and duct, which is harder to clean and a fire concern.
Why does my Zephyr show F so often?
It counts fan hours, so a hood run on every meal reaches 30 hours in a few weeks. Frying and wok cooking load the mesh faster than the timer assumes.

Still showing F?

Three things make the booking useful: the letters or blink pattern exactly as they showed, the full model number from the label behind the filters, and whether the fan still moves air on every speed. With those, the technician arrives with half the answer already worked out.
