It turns on after 30 fan hours to ask for a mesh filter wash, and, if recirculating mode has been enabled, flashes on and off after 120 hours to ask for new charcoal filters. Each reminder is reset with a three-second press while the hood is off.

The hood has counted enough hours of fan time to ask for its filters: the mesh or baffle grease filters want a wash, or on a recirculating hood the charcoal filters want replacing.
