What None
actually means.

The control needs to know whether the hood vents outside or recirculates. Holding Power Decrease and Power Increase together for 5 seconds, with the fan and lights off, toggles the setting. None confirms that no charcoal filter is fitted, and from then on the charcoal reminder is switched off.

What to do when None shows on the range hood

Before you book,
in this order.

Each step comes from KitchenAid's own guidance for None on its range hoods. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.

01

If your hood is ducted to the outside, leave it set to None.

02

If it recirculates through a charcoal filter, repeat the 5-second two-button press until Able appears instead.

03

Make the change only with the fan and lights off, or the control will not accept it.

Cleared?

The code is gone and the blower pulls steam up on every speed again without a new part. If it returns this week, or the filter reminder keeps coming back right after a cleaning, mention it in the booking.

What not to do

None does not report a missing part or a failure. The grease filter reminder, Clean Grease Filter, still works with this setting.

What you may
notice with it.

The range hood problems None tends to arrive with. Answer these at the range hood before anyone is booked.

All problems

No repair indicated

Nothing to repair.

The hood is doing something it was told to do, not wearing out: a delay-off timer that keeps the blower running for some minutes after the burners go off, a heat sentry that starts the fan by itself when it senses a hot pan, a Sabbath setting that locks the keys and dims the lights, or a link to the cooking surface that sets the speed on its own. No part is needed; a key sequence from the manual, or simply waiting, ends it.

Questions
about None.

Can I clear None myself?
If your hood is ducted to the outside, leave it set to None.
Did None on my KitchenAid hood turn off the grease filter reminder too?
No. It only disables the charcoal filter reminder; Clean Grease Filter still appears after 30 fan hours.
My KitchenAid hood will not change to None. What am I doing wrong?
The fan and lights must both be off, and both power buttons held together for a full 5 seconds. If it still will not switch, book a visit.
Should my KitchenAid hood be set to None or Able?
None if it vents to the outside through a duct, Able if it recirculates air through a charcoal filter back into the kitchen.

Back to your everyday

Still showing None?

Three things make the booking useful: the letters or blink pattern exactly as they showed, the full model number from the label behind the filters, and whether the fan still moves air on every speed. With those, the technician arrives with half the answer already worked out.
