What Wi-Fi indicator flashing
actually means.

Holding FAN for 3 seconds puts these hoods into Wi-Fi connect mode, and the indicator flashes until the hood joins your network. From then on the app can run the fan, the lights and the night light schedule, and it switches on the air-quality sensor.

What to do when Wi-Fi indicator flashing shows on the range hood

Before you book,
in this order.

Each step comes from GE Profile's own guidance for Wi-Fi indicator flashing on its range hoods. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.

01

Open the SmartHQ app, sign in and follow the steps to add the hood while the light flashes.

02

Have your home Wi-Fi password ready and keep the phone near the hood.

03

Apply any software update the app offers once the hood connects.

04

If the hood will not stay connected after a router check, book a visit.

Cleared?

The code is gone and the blower pulls steam up on every speed again without a new part. If it returns this week, or the filter reminder keeps coming back right after a cleaning, mention it in the booking.

What not to do

The flashing is not a hood failure and the fan and lights still work from the keypad. It is also not Chef Connect, which uses its own indicator.

What you may
notice with it.

The range hood problems Wi-Fi indicator flashing tends to arrive with. Answer these at the range hood before anyone is booked.

All problems

No repair indicated

Nothing to repair.

The hood is doing something it was told to do, not wearing out: a delay-off timer that keeps the blower running for some minutes after the burners go off, a heat sentry that starts the fan by itself when it senses a hot pan, a Sabbath setting that locks the keys and dims the lights, or a link to the cooking surface that sets the speed on its own. No part is needed; a key sequence from the manual, or simply waiting, ends it.

Questions
about Wi-Fi indicator flashing.

Can I clear Wi-Fi indicator flashing myself?
Open the SmartHQ app, sign in and follow the steps to add the hood while the light flashes.
Why is the Wi-Fi light on my GE Profile hood flashing?
The hood is in connect mode, usually after FAN was held for 3 seconds. Finish setup in SmartHQ or leave it; the keypad still works.
Do I have to connect my GE Profile hood to Wi-Fi?
No, unless you want app control or the air-quality light, which only works once the hood is online.
My GE Profile hood lost its Wi-Fi connection. How do I reconnect?
Hold FAN for 3 seconds again so the light flashes, then add the hood again in SmartHQ.

Still showing Wi-Fi indicator flashing?

Three things make the booking useful: the letters or blink pattern exactly as they showed, the full model number from the label behind the filters, and whether the fan still moves air on every speed. With those, the technician arrives with half the answer already worked out.
