What CArE
actually means.

The Pilato control has a heat sensor that reacts when the air around the control passes about 149°F. If the blower was off or on first speed it jumps to third, and the display shows CArE. You can raise it to fourth but not lower it until the temperature drops, when the hood goes back to what you had set.

What to do when CArE shows on the range hood

Before you book,
in this order.

Each step comes from Elica's own guidance for CArE on its range hoods. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.

01

Check the burners at once: for a pan fire, turn the burner off, slide a lid over it and leave it, never use water, and get out and call 911 if flames reach the hood or cabinets.

02

If nothing is burning, lower the heat or move large pans to the back burners and let the blower run.

03

Wait for CArE to clear by itself as the hood cools.

04

If CArE shows with the burners cold, book a visit to check the sensor and the control.

What not to do

CArE is not a request for service or a maintenance reminder despite the word. The filter messages on the same display read Grease Filter and Charcoal Filter.

Questions
about CArE.

Can I clear CArE myself?
Check the burners at once: for a pan fire, turn the burner off, slide a lid over it and leave it, never use water, and get out and call 911 if flames reach the hood or cabinets. If it comes back, it needs a visit.
Why won't my Elica hood let me lower the fan speed?
CArE is active. While the heat sensor is in charge, the speed can go up to fourth but not down, until the area around the control cools.
Does CArE on an Elica mean something is broken?
Usually not. It means the control area got hotter than about 149°F, which tall pots on high heat can do. It is worth a visit only if it appears without heavy cooking.
How do I clear CArE on my Elica Pilato?
You do not press anything. Once the temperature drops, the hood returns to the speed you set before.

Still showing CArE?

Three things make the booking useful: the letters or blink pattern exactly as they showed, the full model number from the label behind the filters, and whether the fan still moves air on every speed. With those, the technician arrives with half the answer already worked out.
