What FG
actually means.

The black glass version of the V Series wall and island hood keeps a running count of blower hours. Once the count reaches about 100 hours, it puts FG in the display to ask for the aluminum mesh filters to be cleaned. It is an hour counter, not a grease sensor, so it appears whether the filters look dirty or not.

What to do when FG shows on the range hood

Before you book,
in this order.

Each step comes from Wolf's own guidance for FG on its range hoods. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.

01

Switch the hood off and let the filters cool, then take them down and wash them in the dishwasher or in hot soapy water.

02

Put the filters back before the blower runs again; Wolf warns that running without them can damage the blower.

03

Hold the DELAY key until FF shows, which clears the reminder.

04

If FG is still there after a proper reset, book a visit so the control can be checked.

Still there?

It usually turns into range hood filter and baffle service. Book with the code and the model number.

What not to do

FG is not F6, and Wolf says outright that its V Series hoods have no F6 code at all. On the stainless and plain glass V Series hoods the same reminder is a lit filter key rather than two letters.

Questions
about FG.

Can I clear FG myself?
Switch the hood off and let the filters cool, then take them down and wash them in the dishwasher or in hot soapy water. If it comes back, it needs a visit.
My black Wolf hood shows F6. Is that a different code from FG?
No. The G in FG is easy to read as a 6 on that display, and Wolf states that V Series hoods have no F6 code. Treat it as the filter reminder and clean the mesh filters.
How often will FG come back on a Wolf V Series hood?
Roughly every 100 hours of blower use, because the control counts run time. A kitchen that fries or cooks with a wok most nights will see it well before a kitchen that mostly simmers.
I washed the filters but FG stays on my Wolf hood. What now?
Washing does not reset the counter; the DELAY key held until FF appears does. If FG returns straight after that, the control is not keeping the reset and the hood needs a technician.

Back to your everyday

Still showing FG?

Three things make the booking useful: the letters or blink pattern exactly as they showed, the full model number from the label behind the filters, and whether the fan still moves air on every speed. With those, the technician arrives with half the answer already worked out.
