A V Series wall or island hood that blows air back into the room instead of outdoors uses a recirculating kit with charcoal filters. The black V Series control shows FC when those charcoal filters have reached the end of their useful life. Charcoal cannot be washed back to health the way the mesh grease filters can.

The hood has counted enough hours of fan time to ask for its filters: the mesh or baffle grease filters want a wash, or on a recirculating hood the charcoal filters want replacing. Most hoods count hours rather than measure grease, so the light comes on whether the filters are clean or not, and it stays on until it is reset with the key the manual names. A reminder that returns straight after a reset, or a hood that still pulls weakly with fresh filters, is worth a visit.

Order new charcoal filters for the recirculating kit; Wolf sells the filter one at a time, so order two for a full set.
With the hood off and cool, remove the mesh filters, swap the charcoal filters, and put the mesh filters back.
Clear the reminder from the control once the new filters are in, then book a visit if FC keeps returning on fresh filters.

What not to do
FC is not FG: FG asks for the washable mesh filters to be cleaned, while FC asks for the charcoal to be replaced. A hood that is ducted to the outside has no charcoal filters, so FC on a ducted hood points to a control setting worth checking.
