What DELAY lit
actually means.

Pressing DELAY starts a ten-minute timer. With the hood already running it keeps the current speed; with the hood off it starts the blower at high. The key stays lit through the ten minutes, and Home Connect models let you change the length and speed in the app.

What to do when DELAY lit shows on the range hood

Before you book,
in this order.

Each step comes from Thermador's own guidance for DELAY lit on its range hoods. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.

01

Leave it running if you want the kitchen cleared; it switches off on its own.

02

To stop early, press a fan speed key or 0.

03

If the blower keeps running after the ten minutes with DELAY dark, book a visit.

Cleared?

The code is gone and the blower pulls steam up on every speed again without a new part. If it returns this week, or the filter reminder keeps coming back right after a cleaning, mention it in the booking.

What not to do

A lit DELAY key is not a stuck blower. A blower that starts itself with no key pressed is more likely automatic mode reacting to heat below.

What you may
notice with it.

The range hood problems DELAY lit tends to arrive with. Answer these at the range hood before anyone is booked.

All problems

No repair indicated

Nothing to repair.

The hood is doing something it was told to do, not wearing out: a delay-off timer that keeps the blower running for some minutes after the burners go off, a heat sentry that starts the fan by itself when it senses a hot pan, a Sabbath setting that locks the keys and dims the lights, or a link to the cooking surface that sets the speed on its own. No part is needed; a key sequence from the manual, or simply waiting, ends it.

In Thermador's own words

the blower will turn on to the high speed setting for 10 minutes.

Questions
about DELAY lit.

Can I clear DELAY lit myself?
Leave it running if you want the kitchen cleared; it switches off on its own.
Why did my Thermador hood jump to high when I pressed DELAY?
With the hood off, DELAY starts the blower at high for ten minutes. With the hood on, it keeps the speed you already chose.
Can I make the Thermador delay shorter or longer?
On Home Connect models, yes. The app's settings menu lets you choose a different run-on time and speed.
My Thermador fan starts by itself during cooking. Is that DELAY?
Probably not. In AUTO mode the hood turns the blower on when its control senses heat, adjusting every five minutes. Press AUTO again to leave that mode.

Still showing DELAY lit?

Three things make the booking useful: the letters or blink pattern exactly as they showed, the full model number from the label behind the filters, and whether the fan still moves air on every speed. With those, the technician arrives with half the answer already worked out.
