What 3
actually means.

On ZLINE wall hoods and inserts with a button panel, pressing the power-off delay makes a 3 flash in the display and the speed indicator counts down. When it reaches zero, the motor shuts down; another panel shows the word power flashing and stops after five minutes.

What to do when 3 shows on the range hood

Before you book,
in this order.

Each step comes from ZLINE's own guidance for 3 on its range hoods. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.

01

Leave the countdown running if you want the hood to clear the air and stop.

02

Press power to turn the hood off straight away.

03

If the fan keeps running after the count reaches zero, book a visit to check the button panel.

Cleared?

The code is gone and the blower pulls steam up on every speed again without a new part. If it returns this week, or the filter reminder keeps coming back right after a cleaning, mention it in the booking.

What not to do

The flashing 3 is a timer and not an error number. ZLINE's troubleshooting list has no numbered codes; a hood that will not run at all points first to the breaker or fuse.

What you may
notice with it.

The range hood problems 3 tends to arrive with. Answer these at the range hood before anyone is booked.

All problems

No repair indicated

Nothing to repair.

The hood is doing something it was told to do, not wearing out: a delay-off timer that keeps the blower running for some minutes after the burners go off, a heat sentry that starts the fan by itself when it senses a hot pan, a Sabbath setting that locks the keys and dims the lights, or a link to the cooking surface that sets the speed on its own. No part is needed; a key sequence from the manual, or simply waiting, ends it.

Questions
about 3.

Can I clear 3 myself?
Leave the countdown running if you want the hood to clear the air and stop.
Is the flashing 3 on my ZLINE hood an error code?
No, it is the power-off delay counting down.
How long is the ZLINE power-off delay?
The display counts down from 3; on panels that show power instead, the delay is five minutes.
Why does my ZLINE hood not run at all?
ZLINE's first check is the breaker or a blown fuse, then that a speed was actually selected.

Still showing 3?

Three things make the booking useful: the letters or blink pattern exactly as they showed, the full model number from the label behind the filters, and whether the fan still moves air on every speed. With those, the technician arrives with half the answer already worked out.
