When the VL 414 is set up to recirculate, its activated charcoal filter sits in the remote fan unit rather than at the cooking surface. The ring tells you it is spent with six quick white flashes, and only in circulating-air mode. Gaggenau range hood display What to do when Ring flashes white rapidly six times shows on the range hood ### Kind of code Filter reminders The hood has counted enough hours of fan time to ask for its filters: the mesh or baffle grease filters want a wash, or on a recirculating hood the charcoal filters want replacing. Most hoods count hours rather than measure grease, so the light comes on whether the filters are clean or not, and it stays on until it is reset with the key the manual names. A reminder that returns straight after a reset, or a hood that still pulls weakly with fresh filters, is worth a visit. ### Usually leads to Range hood filter and baffle service Cleaning or replacing what catches grease and odor: mesh and baffle filters, charcoal pads on recirculating hoods, and the grease channel. ### Shows up as Reading a Range Hood Error Code or Blinking Light A range hood error code may appear as letters and numbers on a display, a light that blinks in a pattern, a filter reminder that will not clear, or a beep with the fan refusing to start. ### Make Gaggenau A Gaggenau hood or downdraft vent is repaired where it is installed, after the technician has seen how its air leaves the house. ### Source Gaggenau VL 414 712 downdraft ventilation Use and care manual Vario 400 series downdraft ventilation VL 414 712 in circulating-air mode. ## Before you book, in this order. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit. 01 Arrange replacement or regeneration of the activated charcoal filter in the remote fan unit. 02 Follow the cleaning and maintenance steps in the manual for the remote fan unit if you can reach it safely without tools or ladders. 03 Reset the saturation indicator afterward. 04 If the fan unit is out of reach or the flashing continues, book a visit. ### Still there?
