Miele sells wall and island hoods, insert and built-under hoods for cabinetry, and countertop downdrafts, and its newer hoods can take orders from a Miele induction surface through Con@ctivity. That link, the adjustable filter clocks and the power-saving settings explain many of the calls that look like breakdowns. Miele's US range covers wall-mounted and island décor hoods, insert ventilation hoods and built-under hoods for cabinets, and the DA 6881 and DA 6891 downdrafts that extend from the countertop. Some downdraft setups run an external blower on the roof or outside wall. ### The cooking surface can drive the hood With Con@ctivity, a Wi-Fi Miele induction surface tells the hood when to start, how fast to run and when to stop. A hood that seems to act on its own is often simply following the burners. ### Filter intervals the owner can change On the DA 6698 W the grease filter reminder can be set to 20, 30, 40 or 50 hours and the charcoal one to 120, 180 or 240 hours, or off. A reminder that comes too often or never may be a setting, not a sensor. ### Shipped for recirculation Miele sets these hoods up for recirculation at the factory, and a ducted installation needs the charcoal reminder switched off. We see ducted hoods still asking for charcoal filters that were never fitted. ### Power management steps the fan down With power management on, booster drops to level 3 after five minutes and lower levels step down over hours, while the light switches off after twelve. It saves energy but can feel like a failing blower. Parts Grease filters are cleaned, not replaced, every three to four weeks, while charcoal filters and recirculation kits are Miele accessories ordered by model. The DA 68x1 downdrafts use specific charcoal filters and conversion kits depending on the model. Repair or replace A Miele hood with a failed control, blower or light is usually worth repairing, particularly an insert or downdraft built into the kitchen. Replacement mainly makes sense when an older model's electronics are no longer available. Book your Miele visit ## What we are called out for. On Miele, most often range hood fan won't turn off. Con@ctivity is probably on. The Miele induction surface switches the hood's lights and blower on and sets the level; touch a level on the hood to take over manually. ### Why does my Miele booster setting drop after a few minutes? Power management returns booster to level 3 after five minutes. You can switch it off in the settings if you prefer. ### My ducted Miele hood keeps asking for charcoal filters. Why? Miele ships it set for recirculation. Switch off the charcoal filter indicator for vented mode, as the instructions show. ### How do I lower a Miele downdraft? Press and hold the On/Off control until all symbols light up; the canopy retracts and the symbols go out. --- **[Read on the site: Miele Range Hood Repair | RangeHoodeRepair.center](https://rangehooderepair.center/brands/miele/)** **[Book a visit with RangeHoodeRepair.center](https://rangehooderepair.center/schedule/)**
